Tongtoujian Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at the Tongtoujian near the Yueshan in Huaining Country, Anhui. It was named by 326 Geological Team of Anhui Geological Bureau in 1962, and published formally in 1966.

Lithology and Thickness
This formation, 1700 thick, is mainly composed of purplish-pink siltstone, silty mudstone intercalated with fine sandstone, yielding cross bedding and ripple marks.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The Tongtoujian Fm is conformable in contact to underlying Yueshan Fm with the purplish-red, livid, greyish-green, greyish-brown siltstone at the bottom. Mainly it is an upward color change in the siltstone from greenish-grey to purplish-pink.
Upper contact
It is disconformable in contact to overlying purplish-red and brownish-yellow conglomerate of Lalijian Fm
Regional extent
The formation is restrictively distributed in Wuhu and Anqing.
